Hand building is a pottery technique where clay is shaped using simple tools and your hands, without the use of a potter's wheel. This is a 4 day course where you'll learn the three fundamental hand building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building using a clay called stoneware. Each session focuses on a different technique, allowing you to create a unique pieces. By the end of the course, you would have created four pieces, which will be glazed, fired, and ready for collection once the firing process is complete. You'll also be introduced to the basics of underglazing to add colour and decoration to your work. Each session lasts approximately 3 hours.

The Intensive Wheel Throwing Course is designed for beginners who want to build a strong foundation in wheel throwing. Throughout the course, you'll learn the fundamentals of centering, throwing cylinders, cups, and bowls, along with trimming and handle attachment. The course includes 6 instructor-led sessions and 6 practice sessions. The practice sessions are intended to help you refine the techniques taught during the guided classes. The course is typically completed over 3 weeks and requires attendance 4 days a week. Each session lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, giving you ample time to practice and improve your skills at the wheel.

Wheel throwing Weekend Course

A 7 day crash course on wheel throwing, it would include centring, cylinder, bowl and trimming of the bowl, it'll be 4 instructed sessions and 3 practise sessions, we would work both with terracotta and stoneware and the course fee would be 6100. This can be done over 4 weekends. Each session is about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Hand building is a pottery technique where clay is shaped using simple tools and your hands, without the use of a potter's wheel. During this 3 hour session, you'll learn the basics of hand building, including how to wedge clay and roll out a slab before creating a piece of your choice. You'll be working with stoneware clay, and your finished piece will be glazed, fired, and ready for collection at a later date.
